I had the privilege of working within the Student Affairs division at Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N) while completing my Master of Education. I served as a graduate coordinator in both the Office of Student Life and Leadership as well as the Office of the Dean of Student Life. Both of these experiences not only impacted my professional journey, but they have also influenced my personal development.

As a graduate coordinator, I was able to work alongside seasoned professionals who invested their time and energy into providing me with support and mentorship. I was empowered to ask questions, take part in decision making, and be boundless in my creativity. I acquired the skills needed to become a successful student affairs administrator including program development, customer service, teamwork, budgeting, advising, and so much more. My newly acquired skills, expanded network, and passion for helping others landed me a career at RU-N as the Coordinator for Judicial Affairs and Student Development in 2014. I currently serve as the Assistant Director for Community Standards and Student Life at RU-N.

One of the most impactful experiences I had during my graduate assistantship was traveling with a team of students and professionals to Tanzania, East Africa on a service learning trip. This experience truly transformed how view and define student development work. Personally, it was one of the most life changing experiences and unforgettable learning opportunities.

Special thank you to my mentor Dean Clayton Walton for the support and guidance during my professional journey. Please continue the great work you do for your students!
