I took part in the Nicaragua International Leadership Exchange program in 2016. Participating in this program was both a fulfilling and life changing experience that gave me a new perspective on life. While in Nicaragua, I was awarded the opportunity to witness first hand a reflection of their health care through a local health clinic in the community of Cuajiniquil. Though we were there to build the solar suitcase , I was able to observe the surroundings. Through my observation, I realized that their were significant health problems for the people in the community. There was lack of resources, supplies, and health promotion. This sparked my desire to help improve the quality of life for underserved populations. It is mainly because of this experience that I developed a passion for public health. It is the very reason why I have dedicated my life in improving the welfare of communities through education and promotion.

Currently, I am a rising senior at Rutgers University Newark studying Public and Non-Profit Administration with a concentration in Psychology. Post Graduation, I aspire to pursue my Masters in Public Health in hopes of becoming a Healthcare Administrator. I am forever grateful for having given the opportunity of a life time that further equipped me with the desire to help transform the lives of underdeveloped counties through healthcare.

Thank You Nicaragua !
